I am so committed to making a right livelihood, but ALSO to creating coaching that is affordable AND transformative.
Honestly (this might make some people a little irate, I'm sorry! But I hope it liberates some other people), this default model of "passive revenue stream" is kind of pissing me off.
I think there is a subset of people who are really good at self-paced learning. And passive revenue products are GREAT for them.
AND I think that there is a much larger subset of people ~ especially within certain niches ~ who will get the best outcomes with real-time coaching (or real time fill-in-the-blank service).

For example, I work predominately with life coaches who have just finished life coach certification, or are getting started, and I help them discover their coaching magic. I expect that they'll do a ton of work on their own.
AND I expect to show up and coach ~ whatever it takes to reflect their own brilliance back to them.
In my niche + specialty, I think real-time coaching is crucial. We do deep work. People really GO places ~
inner deep places that deserve the respect of a witness and a mirror.
Does this mean I won't add a passive revenue stream to my biz? Of course I will. Some pieces of my work are informational, step-by-step, play along, do at your own leisure kind of things. Less transformational, and more inspirational. I anticipate I'll put together a membership site, or an ebook, or a series of audio recordings for driving coaches.
But that product isn't going to be overpriced just because of this rampant mindset that the information in my mind, once put on paper, is oh-so-valuable. Passive revenue streams should be information that can truly serve, without its human attached.
I will tell you God's honest truth ~ because I've seen the inside of the Internet Marketing Machine ~ much of the time, people are buying the sales page. The shiny result. The carefully crafted sequence of words that Hit on Their Middle Of The Night Pain Points. The Testimonials. The Drool-Worthy Benefits.
They're buying the thing they want to be, the outcome ~ and there's this subconscious mind-trick that if they pay the money, they'll become that thing. It's not the buyer's fault ~ sales pages are meant to evoke that "I can do it too!" feeling.
(That's why so many digital products do not offer a guarantee.)
And the program or ebook or whatever sits in the hard drive/on the shelf.
I anticipate a backlash in this industry ~ against prioritizing making money in your sleep with passive revenue streams.
Against "charging what your worth".
Against "lifestyle businesses" that prioritize the lifestyle over the client.
A backlash against removing yourself from your service delivery model if you're a coach.
Coaches! We got into this for the spark of change ~ for the evolution. For the moments that bring us to our knees and make us kiss the ground (I do this weekly).
For the beauty of seeing one vibrational change ripple into another.
We got into this work for the love of people, for the infinite levels of deep inner and outer work we can do ~ and our clients can do ~
JUST BECUASE THEY ARE HUMAN ~
just because the life work, the life purpose of humans ~ is to evolve.
And coaches possess the tools to catapult evolution.
To be the adventurers, the explorers, the pioneers of the deep, infinitely unique and remarkable inner landscape of each one of us. To learn the mysterious 92% of the brain that remains untapped.
To come to the end of the 100 years that we may so be blessed with, to lie on our deathbeds in peace and say: I milked it.
I drank from the marrow running through the bones of this life.
To the coaches that felt the call, the spark, deep in the night or in the light of day,
the unique and singular calling to be part of the evolution of humanity.
To the coaches that live for the moment of connection, the moment of pure synergy between you and your client.
Don't take yourself out of the equation and package yourself up in a slick sales page.
Even a very, very heartfelt slick sales page.
Don't "charge what you're worth," ~ because you can't. YOU are priceless.
Make right livelihood, the right way.
Serve. Bring your training, your passion, your intuition, your curious mind and heart to the table.
I don't mean be poor. I don't mean lower your prices.
I mean design your services like offerings ~
like precious gifts you are bringing to the banquet,
humbly to the table of the amazing human beings
who you have the honor of serving.
I mean yes! to leverage. Yes! to scalability. Yes! to transforming as many lives as possible. Yes! to making a glorious livelihood, to enjoying every moment of every day, to travel and lifestyle and abundance.
Yes! to getting out from behind the website, the business card, and the internet machine and Yes! to connecting.
And I mean yes! to living the calling of a coach.
A true coach, whose purpose is to open a curious mind and heart,
to shine a light and hold a mirror so humanity can see:
Everything we need is within.
To coaches, especially new to the industry, I challenge you simply:
Serve like hell.
